Highline Contracts recognises the need to operate the business in a manner which reflects good environmental management and CSR practices. We are committed to making our daily operations more sustainable and environmentally friendly and seek to balance the business with the need to protect the local and community environment.
We operate a fully certified ISO 14001 compliant environmental management system and have a strong focus on training and awareness-raising within our teams. We have banned single use plastic in our offices and replaced items with eco-friendly options.
Instead of plastic carrier bags we have Highline cotton re-usable bags and instead of plastic coffee containers, we’ve purchased glass containers that we refill at a local shop on Ware High Street. We have recently introduced our ‘Grab-abag’ campaign to encourage anyone on site or in the office to reuse plastic bags instead of buying more. Where possible, we encouraging paperless working and try to avoid using paper and card as much as possible. When we must use paper, we will stick to recycled only.
Something that can often be overlook is the excessive use of lighting. To play our part in reducing our energy output, we have replaced all of the old light bulbs in our office with new energy efficient LEDs. We have also introduced air purifying plants into the office environment which improve air quality and is also proven to boost creativity and company culture
